Engineering marries design in HP's all new Spectre 13

HP recently announced a new laptop, the Spectre 13. This laptop is not only beautifully designed, but also beautifully engineered, its also the thinnest laptop in the world.

The Spectre 13 is only 10.4 mm thin, and only weighs 2.45 lbs, it has a carbon fiber and aluminum body, and according to HP, "redefines perfection." HP wanted the laptop to look, "more artisan than manufactured" and it truly does, from the edge, to edge scratch resistant Gorilla Glass, to the two-tone copper color finish. This laptop also has a glass trackpad and backlit keyboard.

The way the display is lifted is with a piston hinge design, you can see in the picture below.

The amount of power that is inside the Spectre 13 means it needs to have a breakthrough cooling system, and that's exactly what HP and Intel did. This system not only pushes hot air out of the laptop but pulls cool air in, right on the processor.

The specs of this computer are also impressive, you get up to 512GB of PCIe-based SSD storage, you also get the 6th generation of Intel® Core™ i processor. This laptop has 8 GB's of ram, and 2x2 wireless antennas supporting 802.11 ac. As far as ports go, you get three multi-use USB C ports that support charging, data transfer, and connection to external displays. Two of the three USB C ports support Thunderbolt™ data transfer, these can give you speeds up to 8x faster than with USB 3.0. The Spectre 13 also has a full HD IPS display and has great speakers from Bang & Olufsen Audio. You can get up to 9 hours of battery life on a charge.

All in all, this laptop not only beautiful but has the specs to match. This laptop is not available yet, but will be coming soon with a reasonable starting price of $1169.99.
