The CoWatch is an Alexa powered smartwatch
First, Amazon gave us the Echo, the Echo Tap and then the Echo Dot. But one thing all these great devices had in common and is probably why they are so popular was the voice assistant Alexa running on them. Alexa has in recent times proven to be so good that people consider it a competitor to Google’s own Now and Apple’s Siri. With recent integration with smart home devices, Alexa is gaining popularity among tech fanatics.
An IndieGogo project has been launched to bring the intelligent voice assistant to a smartwatch. iMCO, a startup in San Jose is the brains behind the smartwatch. The water resistant CoWatch has a dual core (1.2 & 300MHz) processor, with 1GB of RAM accompanied by 8GB of storage; the super AMOLED (286PPI) screen is powered by a battery big enough to give “up to 32 hours of battery life in Always-ON mode” according to the company. A heart rate sensor, Bluetooth audio control, gyroscope, accelerometer, and magnetometer are brilliantly packed inside the steel or ceramic body of the CoWatch. The device seems to be powered by a new 'Cronologics' OS built specifically for smartwatches and such.
The icing on the cake seems to be that the CoWatch comes with Amazon’s very own Alexa built-in for voice commands. Buyers don’t have to worry about not having the Fire phone or any other Amazon device, the CoWatch will integrate well with smartphones running Android 5.0 and iOS 9 or above. The CoWatch can therefore integrate with the smart home, allowing you to control devices such as smart bulbs and plugs all from a smartwatch.
