Chrome on mobile reaches 1 billion active monthly users

On Wednesday, Google revealed there are 1 billion active users on the Chrome mobile app each month. That number is increasing at a high rate. Google said in November of last year the Chrome app had passed 800 million active monthly users. This shows just how much people love using this app.

This is also prefect timing for Google as they also just realised Chrome version 50. There haven’t been 50 versions of the app, but since Google have released their Android and iOS since July 2012, all the apps have the same major version numbers to show shared features across all platforms.

Along with hitting 1 billion active users on Chrome, Google also shared some other statistics to show just how powerful Chrome is

- 771 billion pages loaded each month - 500 billion characters not typed each month thanks to search autocomplete - 2 million gigabytes less of data used each month thanks to Chrome’s data-saving features - 3.6 billion webpages translated automatically each month - 9.1 billion forms and passwords automatically filled each month - 145 million times that users are protected form malicious pages each month thanks to Chrome’s smart warnings

$2.5 million in rewards offered to the security research community to strengthen Chrome Google was asked for a breakdown of the 1 billion number between Android and iOS but was told that the company is not yet ready to share those types of figures. The figure keeps on growing and it’s amazing that Chrome has 1 billion active users. If Google’s only sharing what’s on mobile, we can only imagine what the figures would be on the desktop version.
