Android apps might soon come to Chrome OS

Chromebooks don’t seem to be the most popular laptops out there. With majority of Chrome users running other operating systems such as Crouton on their Chromebooks, we can all agree that Chrome OS needs a bit of improvement. The platform lacks in apps compared to others and even when Google brought the App Runtime for Chrome (ARC) programme to Chrome OS, the number of apps that could be ran were limited.

This, hopefully won’t be the case soon enough as a Chrome OS subreddit user has found evidence indicating that Chrome will be supporting Google Play Store and Android apps. This could explain the recent inactivity in the Chrome web store in terms of app publishing. It seems this new feature would be an option that can be turned on in settings. With Google I/O likely coming up in mid-May, we hope to see the feature rolled out to all Chromebooks. What do you think of the new update?
