Google Chrome plans on making HTML5 the default standard

Adobe’s Flash, the grandfather of multimedia platforms has come under heavy pressure with the introduction of HTML5; the two multimedia support platforms for browsing are probably at par now when it comes to features with HTML5 standing out most times. HTML5 makes it easier for web developers to implement different designs on various devices and platforms but yet still Adobe Flash has a larger pool of resources to make designing easier. Flash has been the default for quite some time but most browsers now are slowly implementing HTML5 as a standard as one huge criticism with Flash has been its security flaws.

Google Chrome, one of the few browsers that came with Flash pre-installed has proposed making HTML5 the default standard for media content on the web through the Chromium developer group. Whenever HTML5 may not be available on a page the user would then be asked to run Flash manually. This is not the first effort by Google to axe the Flash platform, as it started to remove some Flash ads back in February. With some of the big websites still sticking to Flash, it seems it would take some time before HTML5 fully takes over the web.
