Xiaomi announces the YI 4K action camera

Xiaomi has just announced the YI 4K action camera, the successor to their YI camera. Just as the name suggests, the YI 4K action camera now has the ability to record video in 4K. Xiaomi's action camera hopes to compete with other popular action cameras such as the GoPro Hero Series.

In their newest action camera, Xiaomi has added a 12-megapixel camera with a Sony IMX377 sensor, which can take pictures and record video in a native resolution. As well as the sensor, there is a seven-layer lens with a 155-degree field of view and an aperture of f2.8. It also features a six-axis gyroscope which allows electronic image stabilization (EIS), which the GoPro Hero 4 doesn't have. The YI 4K action camera can shoot 4K video at 30fps, and 2.5K at 30fps and 1440p at 60fps. It can also record video in slow motion in 1080p at 120fps, 960p at 120fps and 720p at 240fps.

This action camera also features dual-band WiFi support (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 compatibility to sync with your smartphone, a microSD card slot, and a 2.19-inch lCD touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass at the back. It will also sport a 1440mAh battery, which they claim will last longer than the battery found on the GoPro Hero 4, and also claiming it can record 4K video for up to 2 hours.

The Xiaomi YI 4K action camera will be available in three different colors, white, black and rose gold for 1199 yuan. The action camera will only be released in China, but you can purchase on from Gearbox for $249. Via: | Android Authority |
