YouTube now supports Cardboard on iOS
With Google’s cardboard now available outside the US, there is no telling the affordable “VR set” is about to get popular. With Google I/O also around the corner, VR enthusiasts are expecting major announcements and improvements in virtual reality. Up until recently, there haven’t been many native apps on iOS that support Cardboard VR but that may begin to change as Google just updated the YouTube for iOS app to support Google Cardboard.
The new version 11.18 of YouTube was updated on May 16th to provide support for the Google Cardboard VR, allowing users to watch any video in virtual reality mode. This means 360⁰ videos are viewed just as in any VR set whereas normal videos are viewed in theatre mode. There is good reason to believe Google will make big news about virtual reality during this year’s I/O so stay tuned to this site for more info.
