Google just announced its own solution to Alexa, the Google Home. The device had been rumoured for a while now as Google’s own competitor to Amazon’s Home assistant. The Home device acts as a Google Now assistant and then some. It integrates with smart home devices allowing users to control them with their voice.

In a demonstration video at Google I/O, the user called Google Home to “turn on the lights” which the device promptly did. The device can pull traffic information, play media on your television (via Chromecast), synchronise with your calendar and even track packages, providing information whenever necessary. Do you think this could finally be Alexa’s competitor? Stay tuned to our site for more info and new announcements from Google's I/O 2016 event!
