Pebble aims at the fitness market with their new smartwatches

Pebble started on Kickstarter years before smartwatches were a "trend". Now, almost every major tech company has a smartwatch built into their product line. Pebble raised 10 million dollars (according to Engadget) on Kickstarter. This is amazing because this was only a simple black and white smart watch, but the buzz only grew from there.

Now, the market for smart devices is crowded and Pebble took another shot last year with their Pebble Time this device came with a color display and updated operating system. This year we get two new smartwatches, the Pebble 2 and the Pebble Time 2.

The Pebble 2 brings it back to the roots of Pebble and resembles the original Pebble. This device has the same screen size as before (1.26 inches) but has thinner bezels. This device keeps the black and white display but does come in a range of cool colors. These include black, white, lime, aqua, and flame. The Pebble 2 has a 7-day battery life and if you enjoy swimming you can take this device under water up to 30 meters.

The Pebble Time 2 is a lot like last years device, except last year the Pebble Time Steel was also announced, this device came constructed out of marine-grade steel, and with a leather or metal band. This year there is only one new Pebble Time, but the Time 2 comes with the steel standard. You will have to buy the metal and leather bands at an additional charge.

The Time 2 also comes with a bigger 1.5-inch touch screen. This device has a 10-day battery life.

The Timeline software announced last year made it easy to see what is coming up in your calendar at the press of a button. Now, this year's software update automatically shows you what coming up in the next five to ten minutes, without you pressing a button. Also to help make life easier, Actions was introduced this is a shortcut type platform that uses your preferred setting to make things easier. One of the demonstrations made by Pebble showed an employee calling an Uber the employee only had to press a single button because the watch already new what car he wanted based on his preferred settings.

Both these devices come with a heart rate monitor that tracks your heart rate constantly every 10 minutes. This is a big deal for Pebble, and they are hoping it will raise them up to their competitors. The Pebble 2 starts at $99 and the Pebble Time 2 starts at $169 on their kickstarter debut.
