The Summer Olympics in Rio will be supporting what we are calling "4K Delay". NBC will be airing the games in 4K, but you will have to wait 24 hours after the original footage went live.

According to Engadget, (Engadget) the following events, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, swimming, track and field, basketball, the men's soccer final, and judo will be on the 4K Delay. Along with the 4K, the Japanese company NHK is looking to run the footage In HDR alongside the Dolby Atmos surround sound to make for a great viewing experience.

The president of NBC sports is excited with the new advancements saying, "The Olympics have been a consistent driver of technological advancements, and Rio will be no different." It is not clear which carries will allow you to view the NBC broadcast in 4K, but if you have Dish, DirecTV, or Xfinity you look to be in the clear. Hopefully the carries will conform if they will have the technology ready for you to use by Auguest 5th, the start of the games.

So, do you think it's worth the wait? Let us know in the comments or tweet us @TechDependent with the hashtag #4KDelay. Don't forget to check back for your latest tech news here at TechDependent.
