OnePlus lets a select few get the 3 first before anyone else

With the release date of the OnePlus 3 dawning nearer and nearer, things seem to be getting interesting with the China based Company. Normally before buying a product, you would have watched an advert/video on the item - or have seen it in real life - before making a decision as to whether or not you’ll buy it. OnePlus seem to be saying otherwise, as they seem to be going all out for their next handset. Ditching the invite system – A style unique to OnePlus; tried to adopt it with all efforts but the customers simply said no. A virtual reality style launch – similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S7 launch and now this... China has been given 1,000 handsets to Chines consumers will try to get their hands on. But, there’s a catch.

The official release date for their new device is June the 14th (that’s June the 15th in China). Well, the catch is that the fans are not be able to see the device until the official launch date. There’s a set price of 2,999 yuan (£314.58/$445) and the fans will basically be pre-ordering it. The price may even be lowered or raised, on the actual date, and this also means that more money will be taken from the early birds, or they’ll be refunded the excess that they payed. They’ll also have to wait 9 days before they find out what they have bought and must put their trust in OnePlus to actually deliver the handset on the day.

The early price in China can’t be used as a definite price tag for the new phone, as anything could happen between now and then. Plus, there may even be bundles available (if any new products are being released alongside the OnePlus 3). However, to still earn a bit of cash before the release date, OnePlus will apparently be giving 300 yuan (£31.47/$45.68) worth of freebies alongside the fans’ pre-order... it’s a risky gamble which both OnePlus and the Chinese consumers seem to be willing to take. If the customers decide that they cannot wait any longer or want their money back for something else, they have until 6.P.M. on June the 14th to cancel their order and receive a full refund.

Do not be disappointed if you do not live in China. With the power of current social media, we already know the specs of the device and what it shall also look like, so it isn’t 100% a blind sale but you get the idea.

So a brand new device, about to be launched; Pay now and then have another uninformed transaction in 11 days? Or experience Virtual Reality head on and buy it then? What do you think? Would you purchase a smartphone or any other piece of technology that hasn’t been released yet? Let us know in the comments section below!
