Google Now on Tap gets new features

Google announced the Now on Tap feature with Android 6.0 Marshmallow in 2015 as an addition to its Google app. The nifty little feature allows you to long press the home button to bring up a Google Now layover interface that gives you useful information about whatever information is on the screen. Say you were typing a message about a new movie and activated Now on Tap, it could fetch information about showing times, release dates and probably a cinema near you that is showing the movie. One part where Google Now on Tap has not provided any function is on the home screen. When activated on the Home screen, Now on Tap only gives a shortcut to the Google Now app.

With the new beta version of the Google app, new features have been added to Now on Tap. Upon activating Now on Tap on the home screen the app would provide shortcuts to useful features such as creating reminders, setting alarms and navigation. With Google making huge advances in its AI, it is likely the Google app and therefore Now on Tap would be receiving major updates to its features and functions soon enough.
