YouTube launches live streaming on mobile

Live streaming has been one of the exciting features of YouTube for some time now. The platform has provided many with an opportunity to stream on-going events as they happen to viewers worldwide. Google uses its own live streaming capability in YouTube to stream the Google I/O developers’ conference. Other popular shows such as Coachella and the likes have used YouTube’s live streaming to reach a large audience. One feature that seems to remain missing with YouTube is Live streaming on mobile. The YouTube mobile app may allow uploading and watching videos but has never given users the option to record live video and share.

YouTube has implemented this feature now, with a Periscope-like addition to its mobile app. The YouTube app will now allow you to share live video with everyone. It also adds the ability for people watching to reply with text responses overlaying the screen in a creative way. What’s more, your videos can be searched by users and settings can be adjusted just like regular videos on YouTube. This addition is bound to bring a lot of joy to video content creators that use YouTube to reach out to the audience. For now, the feature has been launched for a select few users but would be made public soon. What do you think of this? Leave a comment.
