Maserati could be sneaking up on Tesla

The all electric car company based in Silicon Valley could have a Italian competitor soon enough. With the major success Tesla has had with its cars, lots of companies want to go into the electric market.

Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles, Maserati's parent company has gone into the electric word before. Fiat's 500e is only sold on the west coast, and has run into some problems. With this in mind, FCA will mostlikley have this be an experiment and see how it goes from there.

The car in mind would be the Maserati Alfieri, named after one of the Maserati brothers. This car would have an option to be electric, or just use traditional gas. FCA is considering devoping an additional electrical for the European market according to VentureBeat.

Back in 2014, the Maserati Alfieri was only a concept car. (pictured below) Later in the year of 2014, it was confirmed that it will be released. Although Maserati has hit some bumps in production with this car, the all electric version of this new Maserati is expected to be released in 2019.

FCA is looking for a brighter future with less pollution from their cars. The all electric Maserati Alfieri could be a huge step in that direction. If this car will only be an experiment, or a success, only time will tell. Be sure to come back here to see more about the electric car market. What do you think about an electric Maserati?
