Android Nougat is officially Android N
Yes, it's official: Google has just revealed that Android Nougat is the final name for the all-new Android N.
The announcement was made on the official Android page on Twitter, but the company additionally introduced its updated state-of-the-art Android statue at the Google headquarters. This time, Google have decided to display the Android mascot established on top of three large pieces of nougat.
The latest operating system, Android Nougat, comes with a variety of new features and utilities. An example is multi-window support, which basically means that users will be able to view two apps besides each other within one screen. On top of this, the new feature consists of picture-in-picture view, and this empowers the operating system to switch between portrait and landscape modes instantly.
In addition, Google have chosen to throw in a few Doze improvements in order to protect and strengthen smartphone battery life. Let's not forget that notifications will also be tweaked, empowering you to reply or get rid of incoming messages and pop-ups via the notification shade or top of the screen, which means you won't need to open the app. Android Nougat will also combine multiple alerts and notifications from individual apps so that the notifications bar will become more neat and tidy for your use.
When will we be seeing Android Nougat on certain smartphones? Google haven't confirmed the launch date just yet, but the update is expected sometime this summer. Don't forget that Google is conducting an open beta program for development, so if you have the suitable and supported device, you're free to check out the new software for yourself.
