Man claiming he designed the iPhone in 1992, sues Apple for $10bn

Today, a man has claimed that he has invented and patented the iPhone way back in 1992 - a decade and a half before Apple introduced the smartphone.

Thomas S Ross originally filed a lawsuit arguing that the iPhone, iPad and iPod designs were all copied and based on the “Electronic Reading Device” that he drew. However, the lawsuit application was confirmed rejected three years afterwards, due to the fact that he didn't pay the required fees.

Going all the way back to the 1992 scenario, the possible device could've been operating on MS-DOS, featuring a physical keyboard, consisting of solar cells as well as a 3.5in floppy disk drive for storage. The drawings and writing are a bit difficult to pick out information, but the potential specs read; a 640 x 480 backlit VGA display, 80MB hard drive, 16MHz processor, and a really small 2MB of RAM.

Ross also created a dual-screen model of the device should the first device have been successful.

The very optimistic and brave individual is looking for a $10 billion amount in compensation, stating that this is because of the “great and irreparable injury that cannot fully be compensated or measured in money”. What's more is that he also wants a share of up to 1.5% on Apple's worldwide sales of any of the devices that could potentially infringe the patent.
