This robot in China will park your car
Parking your car could become a thing of the past thanks to this robot. It's currently being developed by Chinese inventors and its intention is to save people time and effort by parking cars for them.
It works like this: the machine is guided by a laser, and slides under the assigned vehicle. It then lifts it up, searches and locates a potential parking spot in the car park, and finally places it - even in the trickiest positions.
The robot can do this all in just about two minutes. What's more is that it doesn't require any tracks. But it does utilise its 360 degrees versatility and can make the best use of space much more efficiently and effectively than human beings, as stated by the creators Yee Fung Automation Technology.
Marco Wu, the company's CEO and inventor of the 'Geta' robot told Reuters that "the parking robot is designed to increase parking space."
Looking at government statistics, by 2020, Mainland China will have more than 200 million cars. And this could make it seriously difficult for people to find and park their cars in suitable places.
Want to buy one? It'll cost you 1 million yuan (something in the region of $150,000). Wu also said that there are various cities as well as companies interested in the invention. More specifically, he mentioned that organisations "such as commercial property companies in Singapore and London, public parking companies in the Middle East, and developers, governments, as well as public parking companies in China," could make the move and implement this technology that could empower them to succeed in the future.
