Samsung's Note 7 gets a announcement date as well as leaked images

Well, Samsung has all but confirmed that the next iteration of the Note series will be named the note 7, as they have sent out press invites for their event on August 2nd. Additionally, the event will be held in New York City. It has been rumored that Samsung would be skipping a number in the note series, going from the Note 5 to the Note 7, and Samsung has confirmed that move with the press invite. Samsung is saying the move is because of "minimizing confusion" between the non-note flagship phones, such as the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unifying their product portfolio.

Now, the phone has been leaked over and over again, from the leaked press images (above) and recently, we got leaked images o the device in what appears to be the onyx black color that is found on the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. The leaked images show that the phone will have a taller appearance than the Note 5,as well as a thicker profile than the S7 Edge. Additionally, there seems to be a bit of a curve around the edges of the screen. Interesting to note, the interface will not look as different than the Note 5's interface when the phone first launched.

The Note 7 is rumored to have a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with a 12-megapixel rear sensor and 64GB of storage. All of the other specs will be made official at the event that is again being held on August 7th. Stay tuned to TechDependent as we will be covering the event.
