The first Star Wars VR Lightsaber Game is Coming for Free

Until now there has been a limited yet unique catalog of virtual reality games, though a Star Wars game was obviously missing. Don't threat though, as this is no longer the case.

Thanks to Industrial Light & Magic's xLab we will shortly be seeing the release of the first official Lightsaber VR game.

The game, titled Trials on Tatooine, was announced at the Star Wars Celebration expo by Lucasfilm chief technology officer Rob Bredow and is coming to the Steam VR platform on Monday, July 18th, for free. The release on Steam VR also means that users of HTC's Vive headset will be able to take advantage of the offer and experience the game.

The game is dubbed a "cinematic virtual reality experiment" and puts players on Tatooine as the Millennium Falcon flies overhead and lands. Soon an Imperial shuttle follows, and after R2-D2 hands off a lightsaber you're deflecting bolts from a group of Stormtroopers, buying time for the Falcon to escape.

What do you think of the game though? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to stay tuned for all the latest news.
