ARM, the world leader in microprocessor architecture is popular with Samsung, Qualcomm and Apple devices. The company specializes in designing architecture which is the basis for processors and then licensing them to OEMs. With a plethora of support for 32-bit and 64-bit systems being supported by ARM technology, the company stands almost unrivaled if not for Intel’s persistence to grab a piece of the processor architecture cake. In fact rumors exist that Apple has a “special interest” in the company. ARM seems to have hit a new high today as we start the third quarter of the year.

One of Japan’s largest telecommunication companies Softbank, which owns a majority 80% share of Sprint has bought ARM for £24.3 billion. The report came hours after there was news of the Japanese giant making a bid to buy out the company. SoftBank recently sold shares from some of its valuable investments supposedly to finance this buy out. This makes the purchase a huge advancement for the company. This may go a long way to prove the possibility of SoftBank going into IoT and hardware development. What do you think of the buyout?
