Self-driving cars are temporarily banned from being tested on Chinese highways

China has implemented a temporary ban of self-driving cars being tested on highways across the country. A new report from Bloomberg states that China's auto industry and police are working together in order to make new rules and regulations for autonomous (self-driving) vehicles. This includes the fact that car manufacturers have to comply with the ban that prevents their self-driving cars being tested on highways until the new laws are in place.

Don't be surprised by China taking action - last month's catastrophic Tesla Model S accident sparked criticism and scrutiny of autonomous cars. Germany is reportedly drafting a legislation intended to install "black boxes" in the vehicles. At the current time, China hasn't confirmed when these new laws will become official, although early drafts have been already put forward. We are expecting the new rules and regulations to be in effect soon, so that Chinese car manufacturers can continue testing an aspect of future technology.
