NVidia’s New Titan X: The Ultimate
What started as a bet between Brian Keller, hardware engineer at NVidia and the CEO Jen-Hsun Huang Is now a reality. Just months after releasing two graphics cards namely the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080, NVidia is back with a new, more powerful version of the Titan X costing about $1200.
The bet entailed getting more than ten teraflops of computing power from a single chip. Well, as impossible as it might sound, they actually did it. After all, they are not called the NVidia team for nothing.
The new NVIDIA TITAN X, based on the new Pascal GPU architecture, is the biggest GPU ever built. It has a record-breaking 3,584 CUDA cores. NVidia once claimed that the GTX 1080 delivers an “irresponsible amount of performance”. It was a bit reckless. However this one is even more reckless. The new Titan X is potentially 24% faster than GTX 1080 and 60% faster than the old Titan X. The Titan X is packed with 12GB of GDDR5X memory and 3,584 cores running at 1.53 GHZ, yielding an absurd 11 teraflops of performance. Apart from the performance, the new Titan X is sexy looking graphics card.
So forget words, here are the numbers:
11 TFLOPS FP32
44 TOPS INT8 (new deep learning inferencing instruction)
12B transistors
3,584 CUDA cores at 1.53GHz (versus 3,072 cores at 1.08GHz in previous TITAN X)
Up to 60% faster performance than previous TITAN X
High performance engineering for maximum overclocking 12 GB of GDDR5X memory (480 GB/s)
The new Titan X will be available as from the 2nd of August at $1200.
