iPhone 7 to ship with Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone jack dongle
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in just over six weeks and the leaks and rumors are starting to become consistent and look legitimate.
Deutsche Bank is the latest company to add predictions to the mix, by announcing a research note picked up from Business Insider that confirms that a few of previously rumored features are coming to this year's flagship device.
Deutsche Bank apparently made supply chain checks, understands the 4.7-inch model will have an improved camera and OIS, and the larger 5.5-inch model is going to feature a dual-lens camera and 3GB of RAM.
Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to have no headphone jack, a touch-sensitive home button with haptic feedback, "professional class" waterproofing, a new darker color and improved sound with the possibility of stereo speakers.
The most interesting part of Deutsche Bank's idea is that the iPhone 7 will ship with a Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone jack dongle in the box, instead of the previously speculated Lightning-connected EarPods.
Many third-party Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone jack adapters are bulky due to the digital-to-analogue converter needed, however, Apple could create a dongle that has a much better design.
Every one of Deutsche Bank's predictions has previously shown up:
No 3.5mm headphone jack: WSJ, Fast Company, Mac Otakara, and many others
Dual-lens camera for iPhone 7 Plus: Ming-Chi Kuo, Mac Otakara, and many others
3GB of RAM for iPhone 7 Plus: Ming-Chi Kuo
Touch-sensitive home button: DigiTimes, Cowen and Company
Improved waterproofing: WSJ, Fast Company, DigiTimes, Commercial Times, Weibo
Stereo speakers: DigiTimes, Mac Otakara
A new darker color: Mac Otakara and leaked photo
Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter: Mac Otakara
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in September. Other rumors include a faster TSMC-made Apple A10 processor, a larger battery, redesigned antenna bands, faster LTE and Wi-Fi, a minimum of 32GB storage and a larger 256GB model might also be available.
