Google's Dialer App Warns About Spam Calls

Tired of getting creepy calls from spammers? Well, get yourself a Nexus or an Android One device. Google just announced these phones will give a red warning sign when a call is received from a spammer.

Users will be able to block and report these numbers. If users already have Caller ID turned on, then spam protection will be available on their phones once the app updates to its latest version. Another cool feature is that if by mistake a legitimate number has been marked as spam, users will be able to remove them from the spam list. This will certainly help with blocking out some of the obnoxious callers, particularly as election season is picking up steam in the United States.

Unfortunately number spoofing will still not be prevented. The spam warning feature is part of version 4.0 of the Phone app. Being an Android phone user, I hope that Google considers making this app available to all other Android devices.
