San Francisco-based Jawbone has embarked on a reshuffling exercise on its staff force, in an effort to salvage the sustainability of the company in business, according to the company. The 16 year old wearable company has been in the midst of a cost-cutting effort since June 2015, when the company let go of 20 people.
The consumer electronics maker has been experiencing intense competition from the likes of wearable devices maker Fitbit Inc., Apple Inc. and Xiaomi - which became the world’s second-largest wearables maker in 2015. Xiaomi has recently released the Mi Band 1S, a $16 activity tracker that tracks heart-rate in addition to standard metrics such as steps, distance and calories.
Jawbone recent decline in market share has affected the turnouts of its sales and profits simultaneously.
This development has led to the reorganization of employees to reduce company's expenditure, sustain the company in business at a time when the wearable devices category has become increasingly crowded and several rivals have agreed to sell their business.
