Samsung HDR update improves the color in its high-end TVs

South Korean electronics giant Samsung is now launching a new firmware update for the 2016 range SUHD TVs. It essentially includes a new "HDR+" setting, which empowers the TVs to consists of a better range of brighter colours, as well as darker blacks and an enhanced contrast. This also improves HDR quality of content by providers such as Amazon, Netflix, and YouTube. What's more is that it will also advance the regular, standard dynamic range video. That means that images will become more striking.

HDR, which is also known as high dynamic range video increases the amount of "maximum light and dark levels and number of shades in between". Consequently, viewers will be able to enjoy better detail in dark, as well as light aspects including a wider colour spectrum. Don't forget that Samsung's SUHD televisions feature 10-bit panels. In tech terms, that means that they have the capability to display up to a billion colours. And that is much more advanced than a normal HD television.

All-in-all, Samsung believe that this new update will allow professionals and picture specialists to tweak brightness, contrast, and even gradation. All of the 2016 SUHD TVs are eligible for the update - selected HDR TVs will also receive the update in September.
