HTC unveils Viveport: A new VR headset user app store


HTC has launched a brand new Virtual Reality headset user app store called Viveport which will give users the opportunity to browse, purchase and download virtual reality material.

The Taiwan-based company HTC said that the beta version of the Viveport will initially be made available to developers and later, they will start to make it accessible to customers in thirty countries this year.

“Our mission is to unleash human imagination from the limitations of reality, and Viveport will be an important cornerstone in democratizing access to the world’s most diverse selection of immersive experiences,” said Cher Wang, CEO of HTC.

HTC says Viveport will enable users and developers to buy and create virtual reality apps and also subscribe to their various services.

According to HTC, this platform has encouraged and inspired developers to embraced the concept of virtual reality. It is believed that this will create the opportunity for users and developers to collaborate in delving into virtual reality.

Some of the features of the HTC Viveport user app store includes; in-app-purchases, pay-to-download, subscription among others. Currently Oculus and HTC Viveport are the virtual reality devices in the market.
