Huawei Honor 8 is unveiled for only $400 and is on its way to the U.S

At this week's Huawei event in California, the company unveiled their latest smartphone. The Honor 8 has powerful specs with a very beautiful design. Later this month it's launching in the U.S starting at only $399.99.

The Honor 8 is made of an all-glass and metal design and it checks a lot of boxes regarding new flagship devices. It features a fingerprint reader on the back, 4GB of RAM, a dual 12-megapixel rear facing camera, a fast-charging 3,000mAh battery, an in-house octa-core Kirin 950 processor and expandable storage. It sports a 5.2-inch 1080p display, which isn't as impressive as Quad HD displays found on new smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The Huawei-made smartphone is almost half the cost of Samsung's latest flagship.

The fingerprint reader has some pretty neat features up its sleeve. It can launch specific apps, confirm mobile payments using pre-set gestures, involving a single tap, double tap or long press. The dual 12-megapixel camera at the back also has some of its own. One of the cameras records colors, whilst the other works in monochrome to capture more light and improve the sharpest in photos and videos. For high-quality selfies, they included an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The pre-orders for the Huawei Honor 8 start at 12pm (Eastern time) on August 26. The model with 32GB of expandable storage costs $399.99 and if 32GB isn't enough you can upgrade to 64GB for $499.99. If you register now, Huawei is offering a $50 discount, so head to their website for more details.
