The Euclid was just announced by Intel, and it's a unique all-in-one RealSense PC that's around the same size as a candy bar. At the Intel Developer Forum keynote, CEO Brian Krzanich said on stage that this is just an easy way to bring sensors into robots. The Euclid has an Atom processor, a camera, onboard communications, a battery as well as a self-contained CC running Ubuntu Linux and Robot OS. Just think of the Euclid as a robotics platform you can fit inside your pocket.
At IDF, the Euclid was shown in action. All you have to do is simply attach the candy bar-sized PC to a robot and it can immediately sense and see the world. Krzanich said, "Intel's Euclid is a developer's dream for RealSense." In addition to announcing the Euclid, Intel also unveiled RealSense 400, which is smaller and thinner that its previous version. It also packs increased accuracy, improved operating range as well as double the amount of 3D points it captures per second.
