USB-IF rolls out certification program for companies producing USB Type-C chargers

The USB device over the years has been an evolution device as part of phones or gadgets in our world today. Sometimes the best option is still using a USB charger to power the battery of your smartphones because of its convenient nature.

However, USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), the agency known for the advancement and adoption of USB technology, announced a Certification Compliance Program for USB Type-C chargers which are applicable to devices such as laptops, tablets, docking stations, smartphones, etc.

Henceforth, approved USB Type-C charges must have fully satisfied the required USB Power Delivery specifications which aid the optimal performance of any device, and consequently display a logo to ascertain the watts power and certify the authentication of the certification program.

Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF President, and COO said;

“USB-IF understands consumers want to carry less equipment without sacrificing battery life or flexibility,”

“Guided by the USB brand promise of ‘it just works,’ the Certified USB Charger Program will make it easier to share device chargers across the compliant USB Type-C landscape, whether consumers are at home, in the office or anywhere in between.”

“The future of consumer tech is mobility and letting technology disappear into the background,” said Rahman Ismail, USB-IF CTO. “Certified USB Chargers will give users an interoperable power source and a seamless experience. From displays to smartphones and docking stations, the industry is aligning behind USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery as the last wire you’ll ever need for faster charging.”

With this development, the era of non-compliant of USB chargers by several brands which tends to damage the functionality of users gadgets will definitely end. Simply, because the USB-IF compliance helps to affirm that product has thoroughly been processed to meet the highest standards, specifications in the industry and thereby certified to be compliant with other systems or products without special effort on the part of the customer.

Like most safety ethics, applicable to all humanity, companies responsible for manufacturing USB chargers must ensure to eliminate non-compliant products among their production resources in order to prevent future mishaps.
