4.7-inch iPhone 7 is confirmed to have OIS camera module

Today an online post leaked a new image of the rear camera module of the iPhone 7. This confirms that the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will include OIS as well as other improvements made to the camera. Previous reports regarding the iPhone 7 have pointed out that OIS will be included, however, the leak posted today provides the first visual image of the addition in the highly anticipated smartphone.

The camera part has four cutouts around the lens which hold the equipment that allows the lens to slightly float. This leads to clearer and less blurry images. The components that were included in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s missed out on these cutouts. Since 2014, OIS and other features like improved battery life, have only been included in the "Plus" models of Apple flagship devices.

Optical image stabilization is believed to be available on both the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. The different camera capabilities are now going to be focused on the hardware of single-lens and dual-lens on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus respectively. Over the past few months, mockups show that both models will have a larger camera bump compared to the ones found on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The hardware in the camera is believed to be one of the main selling points for this year's Apple devices.

It is currently believed that the new iPhone devices will be unveiled at an event on September 7 and pre-orders available on September 9. The specific launch date is a bit unclear with September 16 and September 23 both being likely options.
