Google let the world know that they are getting rid of Chrome apps forever. Except if you own a Chromebook. Google is killing the apps system for every OS.

After the second half of 2017, no Chrome apps will be downloadable anymore and after 2018 all of the apps will stop working. According to Google, the reason that they are killing the whole system is because no one used the apps.

Google says: "There are two types of Chrome apps: packaged apps and hosted apps. Today, approximately 1 percent of users on Windows, Mac, and Linux actively use Chrome packaged apps, and most hosted apps are already implemented as regular web apps."

Google will focus on extensions and on themes as these are still regularly used by active users. Google says that the website has grown and matured. They say that many apps have been implanted online.

The reason that they are not getting rid of the apps on a Chromebook, is because Chromebook's simply need the apps as their OS is based around it.

Are you that 1% that uses chrome apps? Let us know in the comments down below and make sure to connect with us on social media.
