What do you think about unlocking your Chromebook with a simple PIN? According to François Beaufort, a Google employee, the feature of unlocking your Chromebook with a PIN code instead of a long password, is currently being tested in the latest Chrome OS developer update. In a Google+ post, he outlines how to add the new feature to your system:
All you have to do is enable the flag chrome://flags/#quick-unlock-pin, restart Chrome, and go to Chrome Material Design settings page for now to set up your Lock Screen PIN in the new "Screen Lock" section. When it's done, lock your screen with 🔍 + L and enjoy the new unlock experience!
It's clear that it's much faster to enter a PIN instead of your Chrome OS password, and perhaps it's more secure than using Smart Lock with a nearby Android phone, but you're not entering the code that gets you into your Google suite – one of Beaufort's commenter's put it as the "keys to the kingdom"! Isn't that excellent? For those who want to find out more check out the source code here.
