Prime Now is Amazon's same-day delivering service and is already available in 28 metro areas in the US. A new type of service is now being tested and it goes further than regular purchases. Amazon is now offering customers the ability to test drive cars. Amazon has partnered with Hyundai to offer test drive their car.

A new program called "Prime Now. Drive Now." has allowed Amazon to partner with Hyundai to offer test drives of their 2017 Elantra.

Just to make sure, this program won't allow you to order a car straight away. This program is only allowing consumers to access a more convenient test drive. Instead of having to physically go to a car dealership and schedule a test drive, Prime Now users can go online and choose a 45 - 60-minute test drive appointment between 9 AM and 7 PM.

The car will be brought to your location by a "trained expert" and then you go for a drive. If you like the car and want to purchase it, they'll assist you in finding your nearest Hyundai dealership. However, throughout this pilot program, the only car being tested is the 2017 Elantra. The test drives will also only in L.A and Orange County for now.

This program is really only as a limited time promotion than as a Prime Now feature as it first ran on August 20 - 21 and it will run again on August 27 - 28.

With this being said, this isn't the first time Amazon has experimented with different delivery methods with Prime Now. They originally focused on delivering its product SKUs, but today they are offering many more items. In selected areas, Prime Now is also delivering items such as groceries, restaurant orders as well as even alcohol, however, this is the first time that they are offering something you can't purchase and keep.

Making buying car and test driving them with technology isn't that unusual. Tred, a startup company, offer mobile car dealership including test drives from your home. Another one is Beepi, where it allows you to buy, sell and lease cars from an app. It also lets you test drive a vehicle for 10 days. Carlypso is a marketplace for used, where they deliver the car you buy directly to you.

According to information on the "Drive Now" website, DriveShop is managing the test drives between Hyundai and Prime Now customers for Amazon.
