Acer Swift 7: Taking thinness to another level
Thought that the HP Spectre was the thinnest laptop ever? Well not anymore. With IFA 2016 just around the corner, Acer has unveiled the Swift 7, the first ever laptop to measure less than 1 cm in thickness.
Measuring precisely 9.98 mm, it beats HP Spectre 13 but without sacrificing much on ports or battery. It offers two USB-C 3.1 ports and a headphone jack, plus Acer promises a 9-hour endurance thanks to Intel’s more efficient Y series of chips. It also features a gorgeous 13.3 inch full HD IPS display. It also boasts 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage alongside a passively cooled Intel Kaby Lake chip. And the whole system is fanless. The unibody aluminium chassis also looks awesome and classy with dark on the outside and gold on the inside.
Even though it has shallow key travel, the keyboard look and feel nice. Weighing about 1.1kg, the overall laptop feels sturdy and rigid enough for normal daily use in spite of its very thin structure. Ultra thin laptops are not necessarily what we need but we want them anyway.
The Swift 7 will first launch in China in September for ¥6,999, followed by Europe and the United States in October, at prices of €1,299 and $999, respectively. The pricing is not too bad considering at how sexy this machine looks.
