Garmin unveils the Virb Ultra 30

Garmin’s Virb action camera has been given a major facelift and it's finally out. Its called the Virb Ultra 30 and it packs awesome features like voice command. It also sports 3-axis optical image stabilization and live stream capabilities. And of course, capable of shooting 4K UHD videos. However, all these features come at a price tag of $499 which is more expensive than the latest GoPro.

The most interesting feature of this product is the voice command, so no need to press any buttons; just say "Okay Garmin, start recording" and it's done, which is really practical for an action camera. This feature is rumoured to be available on the next GoPro. The microphone is also very sensitive and the stabilisation will reduce shaky footages. The VIRB Ultra 30 also includes GPS, which with the G-Metrix feature calculates your elevation and speed and overlays that on your videos.

Using the Garmin app, the footage can be live streamed to YouTube. There is also an LCD touchscreen that even works through the case. Sometimes when changing brands of action cameras, the major problem is accessory support. Garmin has aimed to reduce this problem by making the Virb Ultra 30 compatible with the GoPro ecosystem. So if you own GoPro accessories, you already own Virb Ultra 30 accessories.
