Xiaomi launches Amazfit, a $120 GPS-enabled smartwatch

More and more companies are starting to make smartwatches, and the market is already starting to get crowded with tons of models to choose from, and that list continues with Xiaomi, as they have released a new smartwatch called Amazfit. The watch is being manufactured by Xiaomi's ecosystem partner Huami, who also makes the Mi Band.

This isn't the first time that the Amazfit name has been used by the company, as they already have their own fitness line with the exact name, since September 2015; and the new smartwatch is the latest in that product line. The smartwatch is not powered by Google's Android Wear, and is instead being powered by their own custom system. However, the watch will work with the Mi Fi app to show activity and usage stats.

As far as specs go, you're looking at a 1.34-inch display that has a resolution of 300 x 300, and is being powered by a 1.2GHz processor alongside 512MB of RAM. There is 4GB of storage included, and there is also a 200mAh battery powering the device, which is expected to last five days on a single charge, and 30 hours if you have GPS enabled. Also included is a heart rate monitor on the back of the device, and you can make payments though AliPay, thanks to an exclusive agreement between Huawei and Alibaba.

The ceramic bezel on the Amazfit features a scratch-resistant material, and you can switch out the 22mm bands to add your own, if needed. The watch is also IP67 certified, meaning it can resist water and dust in certain use cases. The Amazfit is available for purchase now in China for ¥799 or $120
