Google stops operation on Project Ara smartphone plans
Google Inc, has just announced the suspension on their Project Ara, which is a creative invention that builds a smartphone with integrated, diverse interchangeable elements according to Reuters.
While the company sees the possibility of reversing its intention in releasing the smartphone, it will likely support other tech giants with the license. The company reportedly aims to ensure the support of combining its hardware growth to align with Rick Osterloh, a former Motorola president.
Plans of Project Ara came into existence three years ago through Motorola. From the onset, developers from the Advanced Technology and Projects group were involved in the project; however, the sale of Motorola by Google in 2014 to Lenovo still authorized the Alphabet Inc, company holding onto Project Ara.
However, the latest development of Project Ara has generated a lot of criticism which prompted Google to renovate the idea of the project into modular concept earlier this year at its I/O conference. The initiative is supposedly to be Google’s first self-built consumer phone, which seem to divert to the Nexus program structure which Google uses to launch its Pixel branding concept.
