Apple Watch coming to Macy's Department Store
Fortune reports that Macy's is going to be the first major department store to sell the Apple Watch. Just before the holiday rush, the Apple Watch will be available in over 180 Macy's Department Stores in the United States.
Macy' president and future CEO Jeff Gennette said: "It will be in all of our top buildings for the holiday season." As well as offering the Apple Watch in their retail stores, Macy's is also planning to open a dedicated Apple Store at its flagship store in Herald Square in New York. It will sell other Apple products including iPhones, iPads, Macbooks, and of course Apple Watches.
The Apple Watch first debut in April 2015 and since then it's been available from major third-party stores around the world. Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and B&H Photo are just some of the stores you can purchase the Apple Watch from in the US. This makes it easy to walk into any retailer store and pick up one of Apple's wearable devices.
The Apple Watch had some steep discounts last year during the holiday season from Best Buy and Target. This also helped the Apple Watch become a bit more popular. Apple has never revealed any sales numbers for the Apple Watch, but market research shows that it is the most popular smart watch on the market by far.
Apple just recently unveiled their Apple Watch Series 2. It features a faster S2 processor, better waterproofing, a GPS chip, and a brighter display. The Apple Watch is also in collaboration with Nike and Hermès, as well as a new high-end ceramic body. The Series 1 Apple Watch now features the faster S2 processor but doesn't include the other new features.
Macy's Department Store and other retailers will have the Series 1 and Series 2 watches as soon as they are available. Pre-orders for the Series 2 start on September 9 and go on sale a week later on September 16.
