Sony upgrades all PS4s with HDR

Sony's PlayStation 4 announcement of their two new consoles, they announced some news for existing PS4 owners: every PS4 will get ready for HDR video with a firmware update. There weren't many details on what exactly the consoles will support, but as it becomes available we'll find out more. Sony unveiled its PS4 Pro and showed off some gaming demos showing what HDR can do, but we'll have to see how the older models handle it, or if it's only offered for video streaming.

Of course, the real message is that Sony is most likely looking for is that users won't need to buy a new console for demo material. However, you'll still need an HDR-ready TV, but this means you won't have to purchase an Xbox One S if you're a user of PlayStation.

The press release also confirmed later that HDR will support all PlayStation 4 consoles, but did not go into further information about what games or movies that might impact.
