The huge, medium format image sensor on Hasselblad's X1D compact DSLR undoubtedly makes it one of the most interesting cameras announced in years. Today, the special edition 4116 version of the camera is making things even more interesting than before.

The X1D 4116 has the specs as the regular X1D that was released earlier this year. It packs a 50-megapixel CMOS sensor; ISO range up to 25,600; 14 stops of dynamic range; XGA viewfinder and a 3-inch touchscreen. It also features built-in Wi-Fi and GPS. The only difference is that the body has a stealthy all black look. Included with the camera comes a 45mm lens a leather hand strap, extended warranty, and a custom box. It will be priced at $12,995.

As well as the X1D 4116 edition, Hasselblad is also demonstrating a concept camera which is based on their classic V series film cameras. The V1D 4116 Concept features a 75-megapixel, square medium-format sensor, and modular system. The main body of the camera is made out of a solid block of aluminum. Photographers can then attach lenses, grips, displays, or any other accessory. The camera does feature a flashback to classic cameras that inspired it, but overall, the design looks pretty modern. Hasselblad hasn't yet said whether a camera will be produced based on the concept, or on how much it will cost.
